A personal piece form my IP HURT: In a World Full of It. Trying quick story explorations and paintings.
Image Story: It was time to give up. The high-grade STIM and Surge had worn off, and the fading effects of Serenity brought forth the anxiety and dread she had tried to outrun. They had chased her long enough, and the sleepless nights in the darkest corners of the city no longer provided sanctuary. A dreadful two years had evaporated like steam on a hot stone, ever since she first entered that lab. She had been promised that her sickness would be cured, that her addiction would be quelled, and that what they did to her would ensure she was remembered for generations to come.
Now, hunched over and depleted in the red-light corridor of an old blackout casino, Rose didn’t even know who she was anymore. Beneath her modified Net-Bind jacket, reinforced with super conduction liners, the fusion cell that had replaced her heart was leaking. They wanted it desperately. It was the last of the augments they performed on her, the last shred of her humanity taken, and the last part of her that remained. And, it seemed, the first to ever function properly.
Deep footsteps echoed from the opposite end of the hall as Rose peered out the grimy window. Guess it’s time, then. She was done running.
